Capturing Life, with Craig & Lucas

I'm Craig Douglas, and I'm thrilled to share my adventures with you. Together with my trusty dog, Lucas, my photography journey takes us to wonderful places, from the serene beauty of nature to the heartwarming charm of small-town life.

One of our favorite ways to travel is by road, where we can truly immerse ourselves in the journey. We love staying at mom and pop motels, savoring homestyle cooking, and camping under the stars. These experiences not only inspire my photography but also shape the stories I tell through my lens.

I've created this Substack blog because I've noticed a shift in social networking sites like FaceBook and Instagram. The algorithms now prioritize live video, reels, and marketing, making it challenging for photographers to share their work in a meaningful way. Here, on this blog, I want to offer you a distraction-free opportunity to follow my work, learn the stories behind some of my photos, and engage with me on a more personal level.

What can you expect to find here? I'll be sharing my photographs, many accompanied by a backstory that sheds light on the moments captured. I'll also share reflections from our journeys, giving you a glimpse into the experiences that have shaped my photography. But there will ALWAYS be photos I hope you will enjoy!
